Western PA Speedweek CHAMPS!

Back-to-Back! What a week! 2023 Western PA Speedweek Champions! Let me tell you how we did it!
Speedweek began at Knox on May 31st. We qualified QuickTime in our group and started 11th in the feature. Track was crazy rough, so with a Speedweek title in mind, we drove smart and did our best to avoid accidents while taking care of the car. We brought it home in 8th.
Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway took over on June 1st. We qualified 3rd overall, but finished 2nd in the heat race, which put us on the pole for the 25-lap main event. We won our 5th feature of the 2023 season and our first of the 2023 Speedweek, after leading all 25 laps!
Lernerville Speedway lined up for Night 3 on June 2nd. We went QuickTime overall, 2nd in the heat race, then charged from 3rd in the feature. We grabbed the lead on lap 2 and set sail through lapped traffic. On lap 13, a lapped car got loose and spun down across the track in front of us. I hit them on the LF, it bounced our car sideways, but we were able to save it. Here’s the onboard GoPro footage of that event.
After the wreck was cleaned up, we resumed our lead and won our 2nd race of the 2023 Western PA Speedweek.
Sharon Speedway took over for night 4 on June 3rd. For the 2nd night in a row, we went overall QuickTime and 2nd in the heat race. Luck wasn’t on our side for Saturday’s pill draw as we lined up 10th. We methodically worked our way up to 3rd by the end of the race. Our winning streak ended, but we continued to pad our Weekly Points lead for the title. Going into the final night, we were up by 16 points. I simply needed to keep the 6 car of Ryan Smith within 7 spots of us.
Tri-City Raceway Park ended Speedweek on Sunday June 4th. We were bumped out of a qualifying spot in our heat race and rolled off in the A-Main from 11th. The #6 car started 7th. We kept him in our sights all race long. It seemed like every move he made to get to the front, we could match. By the time the checkered flag flew, he finished 3rd, and we finished 4th to secure our 2nd Western PA Speedweek Championship!!!
This was an incredibly cool achievement for our team. To race 5 straight days, at 5 different tracks, and remain consistent and have success is something that can be very difficult to come by. I’m proud for everyone involved. We came, we conquered. Now let’s do it again next year!
I would not be where I am today without the support of some great businesses, family, and friends.
