Win #1 of 2018!

STORY:
The season opener for Lernerville Speedway took place on Friday. We were looking for a good start to help bring some money in and prove that last years Championship title was not a fluke. Car felt great in hotlaps so we barely made any changes. Crazy enough, a storm came in and dropped inches of rain about a mile away from the speedway. Not one drop touched the track but the wind picked up and was tossing our cars everywhere during the heat race. Luckily, we made the pill draw for the feature.
We lined up 8th to take the green flag, quickly moved up to 4th but then kind of held our own. We had a caution on lap 12. The caution gave me a few laps to reevaluate the track and my car. That extra time proved to be what we needed. I grabbed the lead after the restart on lap 15 and never looked back picking up win #1 on the 2018 season!!
We carried that momentum into Port Royal the very next day. Another horrible pill draw started us dead last in the heat race. We drove from 8th to 4th to grab the last redraw spot but fell to 5th coming to get the checkered. We had to avoid an almost massive wreck after starting from 10th in the feature. We squeezed through the crowded up cars and grabbed 5th for a very brief moment. I was passed on a restart and felt pretty solid riding in 6th. The car felt very good but a blistered LR tire caused us to slip to 8th. This is still one of our best runs at Port and is absolutely nothing to hang our head about racing against the best in the world.
