Opening Season Success. Win #3!

Our local race season is officially underway. Lernerville’s first points race was April 24th, and most Saturdays from now until October will be littered with races in the Western PA area. Sharon and Mercer have both lost a race so far, but the weather will break eventually, and we will be ready to rip.
The weather was beautiful for Lernerville’s opening night. It was in the 70s all day and barely a cloud in the sky. The stands were packed with fans we haven’t seen in 6 months, and the track surface was wide and smooth. We qualified 2nd overall, but it was also 2nd in our group. I lined up from 3rd in the heat race and got to 2nd. Top 3 made the pill draw and we were redrawn to start the A-Main from the outside pole. Our #2 car was good. No need to sugar coat it. We took off down the front stretch and never looked back. I could maneuver anywhere I wanted and take my time through lapped traffic. We were never challenged enroute to our 3rd victory of the year, and second victory in the family-owned machine. The #2 car is 2 for 2!
Let’s be real here. I am extremely happy with our performance. I think the racecar was very good and lightyears better than how we performed in 2025. We still need to find ways to improve though. The competition will get better weekly, and during tour events. This also may not translate effectively to other racetracks. Its something we will need to work with to fine tune and improve. But for now, I cannot be happier with our start to the 2026 season.
Our schedule for this upcoming weekend is Lernerville again on May 1st, Port Royal on May 2nd back in the BK Motorsports 77, and that may be it. We have discussed BAPS on Sunday May 3rd, but I’m not sure the 77 team will proceed with that.
