Continued Progress

Wednesday - June - 2019

Friday night was an off night due to the WoO Late Models being at Lernerville for the Annual Firecracker 100.

We loaded up to go to Port Royal on Saturday, as is usual. A mid pack pill draw lined us up to start 5th in heat 3. The car ran very well but we just weren’t good enough to pass on the limited track conditions and settled for 5th.

Because we missed the handicap positions, I started inside row 8 for the A-Main. We had a strong start and worked our way into the top 10. I lost almost a straightaway of ground after I misjudged a slidejob and jumped the thin cushion. I ran the remaining laps trying to regain my speed and pick off a few more positions. The race went nonstop and we finished in 9th. The finish is pretty standard, but for my team, the way we passed cars in dirty air to get to 9th, while still maintaining speed at the end of the race, is what was most significant. Its huge progress for our team and we know we can continue to improve on our Saturday night notes.
